Winner of the Audience Choice Best Documentary Award at 2014 Gig Harbor Film Festival
Threads (directed by Cathy Stevulak) paints the portrait of a woman, her community, her country. It tells the story of Surayia Rahman, a self-trained, passionate Bangladeshi artist who revives an ancient quiltwork tradition, transforms it, and creates internationally recognized art. Then, using her designs, she teaches hundreds of underprivileged women to do the same, leaving a legacy of beauty and sustainable livelihoods for generations to come.
