Director:  Tristan Oliver

US Premiere at Friday Harbor Film Festival

Have you traded your dreams for the security of work?  As a disillusioned stagehand with fears of commitment, filmmaker Tristan Oliver faced this dilemma and resolved to challenge himself. Two years before the release of Wild — the popular tale of a woman hiking the Pacific Crest Trail alone — he decided to hike all 2,650 miles of that same rigorous trail, hoping to find himself somewhere between southern California, where he lived, and Canada, where he was born.

Along the way, he discovered that his emotional journey of self-discovery was just as difficult as the physical challenges he faced.  Reflecting on his adventure, Oliver observes, “Carrying all my extra gear and food over each mountain pass was excruciating…The hardest part was convincing my body to keep moving forward, when all it wanted to do was stop.”
