Winner of awards in 2016 at Sundance Film Festival and Cleveland International Film Festival

Trapped (directed by Dawn Porter) follows clinic workers and lawyers who are on the front lines of the battle to keep abortion safe and legal for millions of American women. U.S. reproductive health clinics are fighting to remain open. Since 2010, 44 states and the District of Columbia have passed measures subjecting abortion providers to legal restrictions not imposed on other medical professionals. The U.S. Supreme Court will decide in 2016 whether individual states may essentially outlaw abortion (Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt). Despite this hostile environment the doctors, clinic owners and staff refuse to give up. This very moving, character-driven film interweaves the personal stories of physicians, clinic staff and lawyers behind these regulatory battles as well as the women they are determined to help as they work to preserve abortion rights in a country living with the mistaken belief that Roe v. Wade still protects a woman’s right to choose.
