Song of the Hermit

Directed by:

Sarinah Simons

2022

7 minutes

Post-fire, the fate of Big Basin's hermit thrush is studied to gauge its coastal distribution.

ABOUT THE FILM

The hermit thrush's song has always been the magical score of a visit to Big Basin Redwoods State Park, but the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex Fire may have impacted this songbird’s population. Gold Country Avian Studies is building on past research in Big Basin to better understand the impacts of the fire on its hermit thrushes, and the distribution of this subspecies along the coast of California.
