The Camino Voyage
Winner of Audience Award for Best Feature at 2018 Dingle International Film Festival
Early Irish history and mythology feature many accounts of great voyages. Inspired by these stories, four men – a writer, two musicians, an artist, and a stonemason – created their own version of such a voyage, traveling from Ireland to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in a handmade, traditional boat called a ‘Naomhóg’.
The Camino Voyage tells their fascinating story, following their stops at coastal towns and villages en route, camping and cooking along the way. The men forged many new friendships, surprising those they met with their tiny boat that seemed to come straight out of the middle ages, and striking a chord in peoples’ imaginations everywhere along their route.
This intimate documentary charts the trials and tribulations of a voyage that in the words of crew member and author Danny Sheehy, took “sweat, blood and blisters to complete, while deepening and renewing friendships, creativity and spirituality in the process.”
