Join Us! Volunteers Are Needed!
There are a variety of ways to volunteer for the Friday Harbor Film Festival (FHFF). There is a job for every interest and talent. The FHFF depends upon volunteers, like you to create this fantastic event, which benefits the local community. Best of all, volunteering is a fun, rewarding way to become a part of this great event!

Please note: Mandatory volunteer training will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 5:00 — 6:00 pm OR 6:30 — 7:30 pm at Friday Harbor House. Please plan to attend one of these sessions. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or concerns.
Volunteers are interesting and creative people who share a love of community, art and thought-provoking ideas the documentary films present. Volunteers receive FHFF logo wear, an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Bash. Volunteer hours earn 2 film tickets for each shift during the festival, and lead volunteers receive a festival all access pass, which includes all special events. Training, support and appreciation are provided!
Film Festival Office & Information Center:
Staff the FHFF office to prepare for the festival, duties include customer service, festival information and retail sales of FHFF logo wear. One person each day on Monday-Sunday, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, beginning Sept. 5 through the end of the festival.
During the festival, provide customer service and information to public, general office tasks, ticket and retail sales, sign in for volunteers. Volunteers also act as liaison for filmmaker’s, and help to manage the exclusive filmmaker’s lounge. Positions begin October 30 – November 6, 2017.
Decorating – Gala SJCT
Be creative! Help our lead coordinator decorate the SJC Theatre. 1 LEAD and 5 VOLUNTEERS are needed on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 9:00am – 1:00pm.
Film Venue Support
Choose from six film venues: the Whittier & Gubelman at the SJC Theatre, The Grange, Palace Theater, Island Isle Seat Theater, and Brickworks. Help to welcome and count film goers, punch tickets, direct audience members, answer questions. Some set up and break down may be required. 2 LEADS per venue, and Support Volunteers needed.
Opening Night Gala
Help make the Filmmaker’s Gala a sparkling event. A variety of volunteer positions are needed on Friday, November 3, 2017, including Food Pick up/Set up, Ticket Takers, and Food & Drink Servers, including clean up.
Master of Ceremonies
As Master of Ceremonies you are the voice of the Festival at one of the film venues. Master of Ceremonies introduce the films and moderate Q & A sessions afterward. Training and scripts provided.
Social Media Writer
Work with the FHFF office to manage social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Write mini-reviews of key documentaries, tweet and post during the festival.
Tech Support / Projectionist Back-up
Do you have awesome tech skills? We need volunteers to assist projectionists, may also fill in as digital projectionist/sound technician as needed. Must be able to troubleshoot those pesky glitches to keep the films flowing smoothly.
Volunteer Appreciation Bash:
The Volunteer Appreciation Bash needs Volunteers! We need help with set up, bus, and clean up for our awesome post-festival appreciation party. We love our volunteers, and will have special recognition for those who help during YOUR appreciation event!
