There are a vari­ety of ways to vol­un­teer for the Fri­day Har­bor Film Fes­ti­val (FHFF). There is a job for every inter­est and tal­ent. The FHFF depends upon vol­un­teers, like you to cre­ate this fan­tas­tic event, which ben­e­fits the local com­mu­ni­ty.  Best of all, vol­un­teer­ing is a fun, reward­ing way to become a part of this great event!

The Rewards 

Vol­un­teers are inter­est­ing and cre­ative peo­ple who share a love of com­mu­ni­ty, art and thought-pro­vok­ing ideas the doc­u­men­tary films present.  Vol­un­teers receive FHFF logo wear, an invi­ta­tion to the Vol­un­teer Appre­ci­a­tion Bash. Vol­un­teer hours earn 2 film tick­ets for each shift dur­ing the fes­ti­val, and lead vol­un­teers receive a fes­ti­val all access pass, which includes all spe­cial events. Train­ing, sup­port and appre­ci­a­tion are pro­vid­ed!


Film Fes­ti­val Office & Infor­ma­tion Cen­ter:

Staff the FHFF office to pre­pare for the fes­ti­val, duties include cus­tomer ser­vice, fes­ti­val infor­ma­tion and retail sales of FHFF logo wear.  One per­son each day on Mon­day-Sun­day, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, begin­ning Sept. 5 through the end of the fes­ti­val. 

Dur­ing the fes­ti­val, pro­vide cus­tomer ser­vice and infor­ma­tion to pub­lic, gen­er­al office tasks, tick­et and retail sales, sign in for vol­un­teers. Vol­un­teers also act as liai­son for filmmaker’s, and help to man­age the exclu­sive filmmaker’s lounge. Posi­tions begin Octo­ber 30 – Novem­ber 6, 2017.

Dec­o­rat­ing – Gala SJCT

Be cre­ative! Help our lead coor­di­na­tor dec­o­rate the SJC The­atre. 1 LEAD and 5 VOLUNTEERS are need­ed on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 2, 2017 from 9:00am – 1:00pm.

Film Venue Sup­port

Choose from six film venues: the Whit­ti­er & Gubel­man at the SJC The­atre, The Grange, Palace The­ater, Island Isle Seat The­ater, and Brick­works. Help to wel­come and count film goers, punch tick­ets, direct audi­ence mem­bers, answer ques­tions. Some set up and break down may be required. 2 LEADS per venue, and Sup­port Vol­un­teers need­ed.

Open­ing Night Gala 

Help make the Filmmaker’s Gala a sparkling event. A vari­ety of vol­un­teer posi­tions are need­ed on Fri­day, Novem­ber 3, 2017, includ­ing Food Pick up/Set up, Tick­et Tak­ers, and Food & Drink Servers, includ­ing clean up.

Mas­ter of Cer­e­monies

As Mas­ter of Cer­e­monies you are the voice of the Fes­ti­val at one of the film venues. Mas­ter of Cer­e­monies intro­duce the films and mod­er­ate Q & A ses­sions after­ward. Train­ing and scripts pro­vid­ed. 

Social Media Writer

Work with the FHFF office to man­age social media sites such as Face­book and Twit­ter. Write mini-reviews of key doc­u­men­taries, tweet and post dur­ing the fes­ti­val.

Tech Sup­port / Pro­jec­tion­ist Back-up

Do you have awe­some tech skills? We need vol­un­teers to assist pro­jec­tion­ists, may also fill in as dig­i­tal projectionist/sound tech­ni­cian as need­ed. Must be able to trou­bleshoot those pesky glitch­es to keep the films flow­ing smooth­ly.

Vol­un­teer Appre­ci­a­tion Bash:                                                                             

The Vol­un­teer Appre­ci­a­tion Bash needs Vol­un­teers! We need help with set up, bus, and clean up for our awe­some post-fes­ti­val appre­ci­a­tion par­ty. We love our vol­un­teers, and will have spe­cial recog­ni­tion for those who help dur­ing YOUR appre­ci­a­tion event!
