As we approach the exciting conclusion of our 2024 Best of the Fest series, we're thrilled to announce our final screening: the groundbreaking documentary Common Ground. Join us for this free event on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 7 PM at the San Juan Island Grange in Friday Harbor, WA.
About the Film
Directed by Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell, Common Ground is a thought-provoking exploration of America's food system and the transformative potential of regenerative agriculture.
This compelling 97-minute documentary:
Examines the evolution of our food system over the past five decades
Highlights the crucial role of soil health in sustainable farming
Showcases innovative regenerative farming practices across various scales
Addresses the impact of current agricultural policies on farmers, families, and minorities
Explores how returning to practices pioneered by Black and Indigenous farmers can heal our soil, our health, and our planet
As a sequel to Kiss the Ground (which we screened at FHFF in 2021), Common Ground offers a message of hope for future generations by presenting concrete solutions to fix our broken planetary systems. The film's importance was recognized at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, where it received the prestigious Human/Nature Award.
